I was transplanting the shoots off my spider plant today. I need to repot the mother plant. She hasn’t gotten much attention lately and needs to be divided into two pots. It is such a pretty plant and so easy to propagate. I always need to have a few extras for the times that I forget to bring one inside on a freeze night. Spider plants do not like the freezing cold!

Micro greens
I am thinking about starting a project to grow micro greens. I might start with sunflower seeds. They sprout easily and are very nutritious. I may set it up in the old greenhouse. That should give it enough protection. It is a quick way to have gourmet greens at my fingertips. It would taste great with salads and add great nutrition to my green smoothies. I just need to think of a cheap efficient container to grow them in. I have some crab shell plastic containers that would work, but I would like a larger flat. I could cut holes in the bottom of one of my plastic sprouting flats that I use for the garden. That would give me the size that I want. Hopefully I’ll find time to get started this week.

Opopeo Amaranth
I've been picking some of my opopeo amaranth leaves and putting them in my green smoothies. Lots of vitamins and minerals. Also a source for protein. The plants sprouted easily. They haven't bloomed yet, but I'm hoping to see their red plumes soon.
